ONALASKA CAMPUS FAQ’S

Who will be running the Onalaska Campus?

The Onalaska Campus will be a new, additional campus of Coulee Christian School. Jen Wulf, current Director of Student Services and former Elementary School Principal at Coulee Christian School, will provide on-site leadership of the Onalaska Campus under the direction of John Katsma, interim Head of School at Coulee Christian School. 

Is Coulee now affiliated with First Free Church?

No. Coulee Christian School Onalaska Campus will be graciously hosted on the campus of First Free Church. While some families may attend First Free Church, the school and church will be operated separately and autonomously. Families with children at Coulee Christian School attend churches from all over the La Crosse area.

What are the grade levels at the Onalaska Campus?

4K-4th grade pending enrollment

What are the grade levels at Main Campus?

3K - 12th Grade 

 

Are the Coulee Christian School Board of Directors responsible for both campuses?

Yes, we are one board, one school, one mission.

Will the Tuition be different at the different Campuses?

No. Tuition will be the same at both the Main & Onalaska Campuses.

Is there financial support to help with the cost of tuition? 

Yes. Tuition Assistance funds are available and managed by Coulee Christian School. Vouchers through the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program are also available to families who meet the income requirements and complete the annual application process. Scholarships through the Special Needs Scholarship Program are available to eligible students who attend the Main Campus. 

Will Jen Wulf continue as Director of Student Services? 

Jen will continue to serve as the Director of Student Services and will continue to be Coulee’s SNSP Administrator.  The student services team members & principals on the Main Campus will become more hands-on to help manage student support & will attend annual Service Plan meetings alongside classroom teachers. 

What will the class size be at the Onalaska Campus?

K-1 classes are typically not over 15 students. Other classrooms will have 15-20 students. Teacher Assistants are employed to support classrooms with a larger number of students.

If a current family is at Coulee Christian Main Campus, can they change to the Onalaska Campus?

Yes, as long as space allows, students can switch campuses. Pre-registration will be offered at the end of January for families to indicate location preference. Once the school year begins, changes in campus locations will only be allowed at the start of a new semester, if space allows. 

What is the admissions process for Main & Onalaska Campuses? 

Parents or guardians must first schedule and attend an educational consultation and tour, then applications will be sent. To schedule an educational consultation and tour, please visit the website homepage. Note: Educational consultations and tours will be conducted at the Main and Onalaska Campuses separately.

What does security look like at the Onalaska Campus?

First Free has also generously added a wall to separate Coulee Christian from the main church. All the school zone doors remain locked for school hours.

What is the dress code at the Onalaska Campus?

The Onalaska Campus dress code will be slightly different than the Main Campus. The Onalaska Campus will require a Coulee Christian shirt with jeans or khakis, no athletic pants or leggings, which will allow for instant recognition of Coulee Students at the Onalaska Campus.

Will the Onalaska Campus have Eagle Buddies?

Yes. Modified Eagle Buddies will be 5th and 6th graders paired up with lower grade students at the Onalaska Campus.

Will there be hot lunch at the Onalaska Campus?

Hot lunch will be offered two days per week. Primarily students will bring their lunches.

Are the Christmas and Veterans Day programs going to be both campuses together or separated by location?

The Christmas program will be together. The Veterans Day program is TBD. 

Will both campuses have the same specials offered?

Yes. Both Main and Onalaska Campuses will receive the same number of Specials each week.

Will there be transportation between the campuses? Is there a cost to families for this service? 

For the 2023-2024 school year there is a shuttle service from the Onalaska Campus to Main Campus. This is first come, first serve as space is limited.

Will the school district buses bus to the Onalaska Campus?

Yes, Holmen and Onalaska School Districts are required to offer busing to students who reside in these school districts. West Salem School District will not provide busing to the Onalaska Campus.

 

Are there tours available at the Onalaska Campus?

Will First Free families get admission preference at the Onalaska Campus? 

No, families will register students on a first come first serve basis.  

What clubs or extracurricular activities will be offered at the Onalaska Campus? 

The Onalaska Campus students will be invited to be a part of the clubs and activities offered at the Main Campus.

Will there be after school care at the Onalaska Campus?

Not at this time.

Are there any extra services or experiences offered at the Onalaska Campus versus the Main Campus? 

No.

Is the Onalaska Campus also accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI)?

Yes, the Onalaska Campus is an additional location of Coulee Christian School. Therefore, Coulee’s accreditation covers both Main and Onalaska Campuses.

Will there be a gym at the Onalaska Campus?

Yes.
