The town of Heartland is being controlled by an oppressive, authoritative government known as the Guard.  The Guard dictates housing citizens live in, jobs are assigned to people, and absolute loyalty to the Guard is demanded.  Michael Wayland starts questioning the Guard’s authority and stumbles upon a box of letters written by Lydia Daniels, who lived in Heartland 150 years earlier – before the Guard took control of the town.  Lydia’s letters contain a true history of the town and, more importantly, a message of faith, devotion to God, and living your life for Him.  Michael and his younger sister Brieanne use the letters to minister to the townspeople, and they start a small underground church.  However, as soon as the leader of the Guard – the General – finds out that Christ has been found again, he persecutes Michael and tries to rule the town with fear and violence.  Michael and the rest of the church refuse to back down and refuse to turn their backs on God.  Through all of this, the town of Heartland rediscovers truth, makes a decision to live for Christ, and finds The Fire Within.

Drama at Coulee has always been viewed as a ministry, so there is no admission charge.  However, we’re trying something new this year:  We are collecting donations of non-perishable food items to send to local food pantries after our production.  We usually have around 1,200 people attend our production.  It would be amazing if everyone brought at least one item!

The 17th Annual Golf Scramble will be on Friday, May 18, 2012, at Cedar Valley Golf Course in Winona, Minnesota.  This fun-filled event is a major fundraiser for our school.  If you would like information about registering your 4-person team or if you would like to become a sponsor of the event, click here.

Mrs. Kelly Albert – Music Teacher is organizing a prayer group for Coulee Christian School.  In order to best accommodate schedules, the group will meet once a month in the morning and once a month in the evening.  If you would like to receive email notifications of the meeting times or if you have specific prayer requests for the group, please email Mrs. Albert.

• Friday, May 25 at 6:00 p.m. (this is the Friday before high school graduation)
