Visual Arts Courses

Artistic expression can take on different mediums, one of which is the visual arts.  Through various methods of artistic expression and using mediums such as drawing, clay, painting, and more, students have the opportunity to glorify God and express their Christian faith through the use of their visual arts talents.

Students are required to complete one (1) credit in Musical Arts, Theater Arts, or Visual Arts for graduation.


Drawing

Length:  Semester (meets 2-3 days a week)
Grade:  9-12
Prerequisites:  None
Credit:  0.25

This class is to encourage both the beginning and experienced artist to create art with the use of various mediums and techniques.  Students will use pencil shading, colored pencils, watercolor, charcoal, pastels, gel pens, and more to create a variety of finished projects.

Painting

Length:  Semester (meets 2-3 days a week)
Grade: 9-12
Prerequisites:  Drawing or teacher recommendation
Credit:  0.25

This class is for both the experienced and the beginning artist who would love to paint.  Students will use several different techniques and mediums to create a variety of finished projects.  The main focus will be on acrylic painting, but students will be exposed to watercolor, tempera, India ink, and enamel paints as well.
